The game started off brightly for Enfield who had some possession but created nothing. Chelmsford soon started to get the upper hand and it was not long before an Ashley Daniels cross was met with a crashing volley from makeshift centre forward Mark Haines which gave the Enfield keeper no chance, to make it 1-0. Another entertaining episode resulted in an indirect freekick in the Enfield area after a back pass. The ball was laid of to Nicholas Muir who smashed it into the wall which was on the goal line, always good for entertainment. After this an Enfield forward hit a fine shot which pulled a great full length save from Lewis Batchford. Chelmsford had the upper hand and could have doubled their lead when Ashley Daniels was free in front of goal but hit his shot at the keeper. On the half hour a shot was hit at the City goal from 30 yards, Batchford tipped the ball onto the bar but could only look on in despair, as the ball bounced down and then span back into the goal to even the score. This was how the half finished.

The second half started with both teams trying to get a breakthrough. Enfield seemed more frenetic in their endeavours, with shots going wide and well over the bar. Chelmsford seemed to be calmer in their attempts and got most of their shots on target. A succession of attempts peppered the Enfield goal with Tyrone Scarlet, Charlie Egleton and Nicholas Muir all going close. With 25 minutes to go Joel Cooper at right Back was substituted for Paul Tiffen. This put Tiffen up front with Mark Haines dropping back to his accustomed Centre back position. Tiffen added a bit of pace to the attack and Scarlett was soon in on goal, a couple of times to narrowly miss the target. As the game was coming to a close, Enfield started to put a bit more pressure on and a great rearguard action was put up by Max Johnson, Ryan Batchford, Josh Brown and Mark Haines. In the last 10 minutes Nicholas Muir broke into the Enfield area, feinted as though to square the ball to Scarlett and then shot as he wrong footed the keeper to clinch a well deserved win for the City youngsters. Scarlett was substituted for Jason Loewenthal to add some height, new legs up front and to give Enfield something different to worry about. The whistle blew for full time to give Chelmsford the points.

This was a great performance and result for the team, Lewis Batchford was a rock in goal all night, the defenders, Max Johnson, Joel Cooper, Ryan Batchford and Josh Brown were solid, with Johnson making a standout performance and Ryan Batchford, being the youngest player on the pitch was certainly not being fazed by the older more experienced opposition. Charlie Egleton and Nicholas Muir ran tirelessly for the cause always making themselves an out for the defenders and also linked up with the forwards. Ricky Modest showed what a talent he has and Ashley Daniels worked hard up and down the flanks. The strike force of Tyrone Scarlett and Mark Haines with Paul Tiffen supporting for a large slice of the second half, worked their socks off, always being a thorn in the Enfield defence either attacking or defending from the front.

Probably the best plaudit for the team was at the end of the game the Enfield manager going mad in the dressing room and threatening not to pay his team that week.
